If I can convert from being the world’s greatest procrastinator, anyone can. That includes YOU!

    I always give myself rewards…before I close…and I give myself another reward…before I close.

  3. ritaemmett says:

Ahhhhh Grasshopper — let us ponder the eternal question: How much — HOW MUCH — have you finished??? Save that reward for after your task is complete.
It builds character, adds a sense of discipline, makes you feel like a winner, helps you reach goals, moves you along on the road to success and most of all, that reward will help you really FINISH something. It works!
    Warmly,
    Rita E

    Rita,
I like what you have to say. I know even if that I am putting off MAJOR things that are going to have very honest consequences with my job and finances…still, I go to the computer, sleep, or do something else. While doing these escape activities, I am still churning inside about what is not being done. Please…how do you overcome that?

  5. ritaemmett says:

Boy do I ever know about that “churning”. I used to make myself sick over my procrastination. Here’s how to start. Pick ONE business to do. Something like wash the dishes.
Set a timer for one hour. Don’t start anything else and don’t take breaks. THEN give yourself a reward. Relish the reward.
Excellent luck and find a reward that you really take pleasure in. You deserve something wonderful.
    Warmly,
    Rita

    Dear Suprakash08,
For anyone looking for a translation to your note, I found one meaning… “Everything is an expression of one infinite, loving Consciousness.”

In answer to your Channel note – I agree that meditation is a excellent means to success. Thank you for prose.

This is fantastic! Your other videos are helpful too. I place this one on my blog today! Thanks!

What happens if you even dont do the things you like to do?

Last week I had reserved some tickets for my fav. theatre and know what I did instead? Layin on my couch saying to myself “Nah, I’d have to change clothes and wait for the tram and walk through the city center for that, let’s stay at home where I dont have to do so” … If I can’t even reward myself because I don’t get my ass up then how the hack would the rewarding system work? :(

  11. ritaemmett says:

    Dear Beloved Thoughts,
Well, aren’t you well-named!! You DO have beloved thoughts. I LOVE the thought that you will mention my videos in your blog. So pleased that you like them. Thank you very, very much.
    Signed,
    Lover Of Your Beloved Thoughts

Long ago, a very cool writer, Norman Vincent Peale said “Enthusiasm makes energy.” You, my friend, need something to be enthusiastic about. Have you ever experienced being physically exhausted, then a name you haven’t seen in ages but who you really like, calls & says “Let’s get together.” Suddenly, you feel full of energy and raring to go.
You need to add something to your life that you can feel enthusiastic enough about to get your..um… self up — and out the door.
    Make sense? more…

  13. ritaemmett says:

    Dear cananhouari2,
You mention threatre tickets & catching a tram. I live in the Chicago area & we don’t have trams and don’t denote theater that way. So I’m dying to know where you live. (Then I can brag that a name who lives far, far away really viewed my video.)
    Warmly,
    Rita

  14. cananhouari2 says:

    Hey Rita,

yea you are right, I am really a bit far away. I am Algerian, originally from Ouargla (middle Algeria) but grown up and living in Leipzig/Germany.

I really like your videos. I mean one can easylie see, that you got a clue of what you’re talking about, unlike so many self called expert. :)

  15. cananhouari2 says:

Well yeah but unfortunaly I even cancel meetings with friends most of the time because I just can’t get my ass up. I got a job where I can stay at home all day so I just leave for valuable stuff like buying somethin to eat. I got a million reasons for that: Weather, ppl I dont wanna meet, me bein sick with some small cold and so on. There’s nothing that could get me enthusiastic enough to go outside and really take pleasure in it. (Once am outside I do but I gotta try hard for that)

I’m here with an overdue English paper infront of me at 1:30am, crying. Those last few words in this vid hit the nail on the head. You said just what has been tormenting me: dread, feeling like a loser. I used to be near the top of my class. Now? Ugh. Thank you for this speech. You know. You’ve been there. I’m just so miserable and tired. I just want to restart, but it always ends up the same. I’m tired of feeling like a loser. But I’m ready to struggle.
    Baggy-eyed and sleep deprived,
    Sandra

  17. ritaemmett says:

You sound so tired and discouraged — my heart goes out to you. Yes, I do know exactly how you feel because I’ve been there myself many times. One of the greatest advantages of breaking the procrastination habit (besides really getting things done) is that you feel ENERGIZED.

  18. Echofeather says:

your videos are very helpful. I find myself inspired to try to really work against my terrible habits in procrastination. But, no matter how hard I try, I still find myself doing terribly on the business I’m putting off. I do it very slopy. This discourages me and I dally more. I’m stuck linking a rock and a hard place. I’ve tried rewards, and I still end up never getting quality work done. I know that I can do these things, I’ve done them before. It’s just when I try to not dally.

  19. ritaemmett says:

    Dear Echofeather,
Are you overwhelmed? I can’t give a key in this small answer window, but one thought is if you are feeling swamped, select just one business to do, and spend time on it WITHOUT starting a whole bunch of other things at the same time. Sign up on our website for our free Tip Sheet. You’ll get tips every month that might be helpful to you.
    Warmly,
    Rita

I use the computer as a reward. If I do something, I can go check the email or write an email or watch a YouTube video.

  21. roksaan says:

I reckon setting the timer/alarm clock is a excellent thought. I reckon also that if this incentive stops being motivating, try another one next time. Try a different one every time, if it will help.

  22. Chopper894 says:

This is excellent stuff… I must watch it tomorrow.

  23. oldnewbieraver says:

What about going for a run? How to not dally that?

  24. malto9 says:

You are right, i do feel like a loser when i can’t get things done. But i am gonna try your method, doing one business at a time. Thanks

  25. paisleyyama says:
