Anyone who describes themselves as an “entrepeneur” should substitute the word “bastard”.
I mean – what’s so “inspiring” and “ethical” about supporting a ban on soup kitchens?
He’s a mouthpiece for the government, pure and simple.
I reckon most folk miss the huge picture – that’s what john was trying to illustrate.
reckon global – act local should be everyones mantra – don’t shy away from affair – embrace it – but never forget that small or new affair exist because of local people – local people are the first to be forgotten when it comes to expansion of successful affair – the rick is to focus on community.
The huge issue is the modern day victorian workhouse, people are paid a pittance to sell this mag while John Bird rakes in a fortune.
Bird’s a Thatcherite. End of.
Man i’ll say straight away, if you say you were brought \up to be an anti-semite and anti black, in the english school system, you are a LIAR. Pure and simple, you are a liar liart liar
Who cares what he believes in politically – he’s giving people a chance who would ordinarily be overlooked. If you look into the actual runnings of the Huge Issue the sellers aren’t “paid” as you aver, they are in fact partaking in induvidual franchises of the brand itself, purchasing the magazines upfront and making a profit on what they sell. It’s up to them how many hours they place in. They have the same rights as you and I in the workplace, so it’s nothing like the Victorian workhouse.
That’s a very odd business to say, seeing as in those days it was an extremely ordinary business here in the UK.
@imonthebox i just listened to this fuck-wit on the radio comparing himself with jesus, he makes margaret thatcher seem like mary poppins, a rightous egomaniacial god fearing bigot, wanker.
@badnewswade here here x
Ive no timer for John Bird.
His mindset is alien to mine.
In my view sellers of the Huge Issue are working/trapped in as modern work house.
@badnewswade i like you x
@imonthebox lol – so ignorant it’s amusing
This is a fantastic video!
I can’t get behind a man who is so self-righteous about how he is selflessly “giving the homeless a chance”. I’ve been spending a lot of time recently investigating this Huge Issue and the way it operates. The main problem I can see is that these vendors are basically trapped by their situation, once you become a vendor you can’t stop, if you stop you go back to the same situation you were in before you started, This is why people can be a Huge Issue seller for years and years with no hope.
@newcastlebooks I’m worried the workhouse viewpoint isn’t ignorant, it’s very perceptive because it’s unsettling just how much truth there is in it
Here is a man who says a lot of words but doesn`t say anything.
