    I’m worried neither the inner nor external methods seem valid w/regard to me. I am no weirder to time mgt or productivity; for a time, I ran 27 miles/wk, attended institution (grad w/honors), worked full time & cared for 2 sons. I was a whirlwind. Now (20 yrs later) whenever it’s time to “do something,” I feel an uncomfortable mix of nervousness/rebellion. I don’t make excuses; I just feel dreadful. Any recommendations? Besides therapy? :-/

    Consciously try to replace the nervousness/rebellion feeling with one you like better?

    @region1111,

    Thanks for the advice. It does make a lot of sense: Address the problem at the root.

    Really, after I wrote that early note, I felt a whole Pandora’s box of emotionally charged issues glide open. Very uncomfortable, but it was helpful bringing to the surface the painful things that have, since 20 yrs ago, compromised my willingness to be proactive and, well, just plain ACTIVE.

    Anyway, thanks again for your answer.

    You’re welcome.

    Yeah, just the subject of time management itself seems to be a real trigger for a lot of people. I brought it up with this one self and he just got immediately offended.

    Fascinating tip, but you should be very cautious and not over-promise.

    This is excellent. Your prose about WHY you are doing something is brilliant. I read once that this is called prose to resolution. You write that if I do this, then that will happen, then that other business will happen, then down the road this really huge business will happen. You expounded on this perfectly.

    Do you write a To Do List? And do you work in blocks? For example, I’ll write from 6:30 in anticipation of 8:55 and do absolutely nothing else, except sip a cup of tea and a bathroom break.

    For me, telling 10 friends about my diplomacy would just be more stress. So that’s what works for you, which is cool. For me, it’s about being organized and pushing the distractions aside.

    L-tyrosine helps me, the amino acid. Brain cells make it into nuero-transmitters that work with focus and attention span.
