i do that too, and i’ve never managed to hit upon a failsafe method of overcoming it.

i take each situation as it comes. sometimes i’ll sit there and mess about hopelessly, but sometimes i’ll reckon ok do it now, and physcially go myself to do whatever it is. i find doing some physical exercise helps to motivate me, so if i have a lot of housework i either try and just get out of bed first business and do it (without letting stuff like getting dressed give me an excuse to delay!) or i’ll go for a quick walk around the block and ordinarily this clears my head and makes me feel less bound and suffocated by whatever chore i need to get done.

you’ll need to experiment but basically remove the things/ situations that you allow to get in the way and sidetrack you.

your problem is your not reacting to the consequences of getting valuable tasks done.

Identify why you don’t want to do it. Then see if you are willing to change. If not, you will just have to live with procrastination. Sometimes, procrastination is exciting, in a dull kind of way. Sometimes it is a way to punish yourself. Question yourself, "What do I feel when I dally?" Pleased, sad, depressed? Is it like when I don’t do what my parents want me to do? Is it rebellion? Am I just being bone idle?

It’s all about will power. You simply have to choose to act in a healthy manner and do things when they need to be done. Right now, you’re just reacting to being FORCED to do something – ie, a looming deadline.

It’s simple and not simple at the same time. Try making some lists and schedules for yourself. Block out time frames to get things done. That will help systematize it in your head, but it’s entirely up to you and your willpower to simply sit down and STICK to the schedule you’ve made.

You may want to try and make a reward system for yourself as well.

    I do to.
Plotting & doing things a small at a time helps…
but i can’t exactly say it works since i have a 8-10 page paper and a 4 page paper both due Wednesday and i’m sitting here answering questions… lol

Well.. if u just do what u have to do..
U will find it rewarding when u close something on time and may be even ahead of schedule. :)
